TEAM.

MAWDESLEY,BATH TYRER ESKDALE

SUBS:
WONG (for WALKER)
BOWDEN (for MOULDING)
TALBOT (for PETINAUD)

Four changes to last week’s starting line up saw a welcome return to the club for LUKE BATH coming straight in at right back with TILLY TYRER moving into the middle of defence. ALISTAIR BLAIR covering the midfield holding role for the absent BILLINGTON and JACK WALKER moved out to his more natural role of left midfield.

The opening 20minutes of the game was all one way traffic as LOSTOCK lay siege on the REDS goal. Both Walker and Moulding putting in some quality balls from both flanks, but all lacked the finishing touch. As the pressure mounted, KEIGHLEY whipped in a free kick to the far post for MOULDING to head home. WALKER set up PETINAUD only to see his effort go agonisingly wide of the post. Some top drawer goalkeeping and the crossbar twice, prevented the Whites from increasing their lead before KEIGHLEY added the second with a sweet finish from the edge of the box.

Just before the break, the Lostock defence got caught napping and let in the REDS to pull a goal back through ELLIS). 2-1 LOSTOCK at Half Time.

Early pressure and two quick goals by MOULDING and KEIGHLEY soon put the game to bed. A knee injury forced MOULDING off. TOM BOWDEN continued the good work down the right with some teasing football and intricate link up play. WALKER came off to allow WONG to cover in defence with TILLY filling the hole and TALBOT replaced PETINAUD to lead the front line.

Lostock didn’t adapt quickly enough to the new formation and slack marking let in McFETRIDGE to give the Reds a second goal and a life line. Quality defending by ESKDALE and BATH kept RIPON quiet for a while. The goal of the game came from a five man move. ESKDALE’s interception and quick pass to TALBOT, allowed BLAIR switch play to BOWDEN. His ball inside saw KEIGHLEY beat two players before smashing the ball into the top corner to complete a much deserved hat trick.

RIPON almost pulled a goal back when an attempted clearance by ‘keeper MAWDESLEY from an innocuous shot, saw him slice the ball onto his own post, when a simple save would have been far less demanding on my blood pressure. Next time ROZZA, keep it simple!!!!

Another solid performance at the back from ESKI but just out done by the three goals from PIGEON for the Man of the Match.

IAN TALBOT coming on as sub worked hard and is fast improving his game. TILLY even managed three headers in one game for the first time in his life without his head caving in!!!

Knee injuries to DAMO and TOM are a concern. I hope you are both fit and well for next week’s fixture against STANDISH TIGERS.

LOSTOCK GO NAP!!

SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 2nd V WALTON-le-DALE

TEAM.

MAWDESLEY,TYRER BILLINGTON ESKDALE,WALKER,MOULDING KEIGHLEY BLAIR PETINAUD

SUBS: WONG (for BILLINGTON)
BOWDEN (for WALKER)
TALBOT (for MOULDING)

Welcome all to the new season. A new system (9v9) and a new look squad. There was an air of nervous excitement prior to kick off as to how we would perform. With no pre-season friendlies and the loss of three key player’s from last season, I wish those player’s all the best for the future, (unless we play against them of course), I was a little concerned as to how the new look and style would suit the player’s we have available, and how quickly they could adapt.

It didn’t take them very long, as Lostock Hall soon took control of the game. Walton was soon on the back foot as we constantly pressed forward. Matt Petinaud opened the scoring after 5 minutes. Lostock could have increased the advantage several times over but for some desperate defending and some fine goalkeeping. Petinaud. Billington, Moulding, Walker and Keighley all going close. Just before the break Keighley finished a fine passing move to see is go in at half time two goals to the good.

The second half saw a debuts Wong, Bowden and Talbot but it didn’t disrupt the pattern of play. All going towards the Walton goal. Petinaud hit his second of the game and a rare goal from Blair quickly made it 4-0 and had the game wrapped up.

A rare sight of goal for the Walton attack saw Mawdesley, on his birthday; produce a fantastic point blank save from a rasping shot to keep the Blues out and his clean sheet. You’d pay good money to see save’s like that!!!!

Back to the business end……the Walton half of the pitch. Several chances went begging before Keighley finally finished them off with his second and Lostock’s fifth.

Top marks to all players involved today. Good performances from everyone, especially Cameron Eskdale, who had a storming game at left back.

Today’s Man of the Match CAMERON ESKDALE
